VERRIER

Two watches. One minute.
Time, kept for two.

The Idea

A moonphase made
for two.

VERRIER is an invented Swiss watch house, and this is its first pair: two moonphase watches, one with the moon in its window and one with the Earth. A father wears his on a night train out of Locarno. His daughter wears hers on the moon.

The film never names a complication. It stops time between them, then lets a single minute travel three hundred and eighty thousand kilometres, from his crown to her wrist.

Every Format

A night train crossing the snowy Centovalli

The night train out of Locarno.

She promised she'd be home by the full moon.

The father at the train window, an empty sky over the mountains

But over Lago Maggiore,
the moon never came.

An astronaut's boots frozen mid-stride on the moon

Up there, everything has stopped.
Mid-stride. Mid-breath.

The VERRIER dial with the moon in its window

His dial still shows the moon.

So he turns the crown,
one click at a time.

The VERRIER watch opening into its parts

Some things are made to come apart,
and find their way back.

The astronaut walking again under a hard sun

Un minuto alla volta.

One minute at a time, the moon moves again.

A full moon rising in the train window

He looks up.

His daughter on the moon, smiling inside her helmet

And she looks down.

His moon dial and her Earth dial side by side at ten past ten

Same moon.
Same minute.

The Pair

Each dial holds
the other's sky.

01

His: The Moon

The moonphase he waits for from the train window. When it stops, the night stops with it.

02

Hers: The Earth

In her window, a small blue Earth: the home she looks down on from a quarter of a million miles away.

03

Ten Past Ten

The minute they agreed to meet. Both dials arrive at it together, and hold it.

04

Midnight and Gold

A midnight-blue sunburst dial, gold dauphine hands and baton markers, a polished steel case on black alligator.

Earthrise over the lunar horizon, a lone astronaut and her footprints

Home was never a place.

It's a time we keep.

Colour Strategy

Two worlds, one warm metal.

His world is lamplight and timber on a winter night; hers is hard sun on grey dust and black sky. The only thing the two share is the watch: midnight blue and gold, the same in both. When the screen splits, it is the one thing that matches.
